Mirage is a 1-minute 3D animated short made for the class CNM190 - Advanced Digital Animation. It was made in a team of 11 over the course of an entire school year.During the year, we made updates, got feedback from staff and industry professionals, and iterated week after week until the final product was ready.The film features simulations for hair, sand, and cloth, done in Houdini and brought into Maya through cache.For the first half of production, I was mostly involved in pre-production and story development, with a bit of modelling and shading work in the room set.For the second half, I was heavily involved with rigging and animation. I rigged both characters and did skinning on Lila, the female character. For animation, I did all of the cuts starting from the halfway point of the film.This course taught me so much about making professional animation films and my favorite class during my time at Berkeley!
Coughin is a 30-second 2D animated short made for the 2021 24H Animation Contest, with the theme "The New Normal". This was primarly made by 4 people.This was my first time working on a 2D production and I learned so much on how pipeling compares between 2D and 3D through this project.I made the animatic and set timings, did a 3D layout of the cafe set, all of the first shot, all backgrounds, all editing, and all sound design.
Hungry Boi is a 1-minute 3D animated short made for the UCBUGG DeCal class, which is where I first learned the 3D pipeline in Maya (and the same course I currently teach). It was made in a team of 4 over the course of a single semester.I pitched and directed this short, having my hands in all parts of the pipeline. I modelled and shaded the trees, modelled the main squirrel character, did all rigging, and did the animation for the end half of the short.
rei is a Animated Music Video (AMV) for my favorite anime, Sangatsu no Lion, a story about a shogi prodigy overcoming internal hardships. This is completely a fan project, but is where I learned most of the editing and compositing techniques I use on current animation projects.
